Hello!

We’re so happy you’re here! First off, let me tell you a little about how this blog came to be. I (Sarah) have a bit of a wandering heart. I’m always on the hunt for the next new thing. The wanderlust is strong with this one. One of the things I love to do is browse through travel blogs and dream of being one of those families who have set off on the adventure of a lifetime, traveling wherever their whims take them. They have “location independent” jobs, giving them the freedom to go where they please.

Which is awesome.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to do the same? BUT…we’ve got (location dependent) jobs and a limited budget and I secretly love where I live (until winter hits) and we have elementary schoolers and TEENAGERS who have the gall to have their own friends and schedules and ideas. You know, all of the excuses people have for why they don’t travel when they want to.

But honestly guys: TEENAGERS. Amiright?

The reality is, most families aren’t jet setting around the world. Most families are like us, living life where they are with what they’ve got. But all is not lost! It’s also a reality that there is adventure to be had where ever we are, right here, right now. There’s no need to wallow away in the mundane!

As a family, we try to find the fun and adventure around us. Sometimes that’s here in the beautiful Wasatch Valley of Utah, and sometimes it’s exploring other parts of this great wide world. This blog was born because we love to share those experiences with others and inspire them to do the same.

So Go! Discover! Explore! Adventure is out there and it’s worthwhile!

So Who Are The Rays?

Meet Sarah. Sarah is the brains behind the blog. She has an insatiable wanderlust, a love of all things The Amazing Race, and a knack for dragging her family up precarious mountains. She is a teacher of fitness classes, a lover of chocolate, and a dreamer of dreams. If she could choose to visit anywhere in the world, it would be Ireland.

Meet Mr. Ray. Mr. Ray is the support behind the dreams. He loves smoked meat, good dancing, and bad jokes. He is a teacher of high schoolers, a connoisseur of board games, and a maestro of improv comedy. If he could choose to visit anywhere in the world, it would be the mailbox.

Meet Dawn. Dawn gets the privilege of being both the experimental oldest child and the only girl. She has a love of art, cheese, and Broadway musicals. She is a player of the violin, reader of books, and hiker of hills. If she could visit anywhere in the world, it would be "all the beaches."

Meet John. John plays the role of keeping us on our toes. He has a gift for math, a love of reading, and a fancy for theater. He is a teaser of siblings, solver of puzzles, and player of D&D. If he could visit anywhere in the world, it would be Denmark.

Meet Noah. Noah acts as the calm in our chaos. He has a curiosity for science, a love of reading, and a keen sense of observation. He is a rider of bikes, player of video games, and singer of songs. If he could visit anywhere in the world, it would be Disney World.

Meet Everett. Everett gets to be the baby and wear all the hand me downs. He has a talent for finding the good in every situation, and a gift of making people smile. He is a maker of plans, a giver of hugs, and a teller of tales. If he could visit anywhere in the world, it would be Switzerland.
