Zipline Utah: The Screaming Falcon

Every time I drive down Provo Canyon, as we’re passing Rainbow Bay, I think, “We have GOT to try that zip line someday!” Well folks, we did. We had a great opportunity at a party to try out the Screaming Falcon Big Line at Zip Line Utah.  It did not disappoint.

The Screaming Falcon is a 3900 ft zip line that just happens to be the longest zip line to cross over water in the world. And it’s right here in our own back yard. We’re lucky, we are.

You can see in the pic on the right (or below if you’re on mobile), just how long that is. We were standing at the top of the tower at the start of the line here. If you squint really hard, or zoom in, you can see a little hill right on the other side of the bay. On top of that little hill is the tower we’re headed to.

The journey starts by gearing up at the yurt at the bottom. Guides will make sure you are all safely strapped up and ready to go.

Next you take an ATV ride up the hill and up the hill and up the hill a little farther to reach the Screaming Falcon tower.

We had a big group, so it took several trips to get everyone up there. We just waited on the platform for everyone to arrive so our awesome guide would only have to give all of our instructions once.

Once we were all briefed on the procedure, we started heading down one at a time. I’ll just let the next couple of pics and videos tell the rest of the story.

Participants are required to be 12 years or older and at least 90 lbs to ride the Screaming Falcon, but they do have some options for younger and smaller people. While Dawn, John, and I were on the big line, Noah and Everett were able to ride a lower, shorter line. They loved it just as much, which is pretty awesome because one of them tends to be scared of heights and speed, but he would not stop talking about how much he loved it afterward. Yay for conquering fears!

For our experience, we only did the one zip line, but Zip Line Utah offers some awesome challenge course experiences in addition to this line. They have options for a range of ages and abilities. If you’d like to learn more, check out their website.

To get to Zip Line Utah, you enter Deer Creek Reservoir at the Rainbow Bay entrance and then turn to the left after the ranger station. There is a large pavilion there that can be reserved for parties if you want to make a day of it with your group at Deer Creek Reservoir.

Have you ever gone zip lining? Do you like it? Where is your favorite place you’ve ever zip lined or where do you hope to try it? Some day I’d love to zip line through the forest canopy in Costa Rica. That would amazing.
